Jamila Ramnanan is the Vice President of Human Resources for Avantax Wealth Management and the Diversity & Inclusion leader for Blucora, Inc. (NASDAQ: BCOR) the parent company of Avantax. Jamila has been with the firm for more than 12 years. Her primary focus is ensuring that Avantax attracts, hires and retains talented people who align with company culture and values, and who have the skillset and expertise to successfully support business programs and priorities. She counsels Avantax and Blucora leaders on how best to ensure that all employees are treated as unique individuals, while creating scalable and repeatable human resources programs and services. Jamila guides efforts that engage employees, support their continuous learning, and help them develop professionally and grow within Avantax.
Jamila began her financial services career with Wells Fargo Bank in 2002; there, she managed a retail bank branch and built a successful team that increased sales. In 2008, she began working for HD Vest on the audit compliance team. She worked with hundreds of affiliated Financial Professionals to ensure their practices complied with regulatory guidelines, including Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) standards. In November 2011, Jamila was promoted to Human Resources where she recruited top talent. She assisted in the administration, interpretation and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, EEO, disciplinary actions, terminations, compensation and employee development.
In January 2014, Jamila began her new role as a Practice Management Consultant, and was instrumental in growing the practice management program through online resources, professional consulting and coaching.
Jamila has a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management, a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources, and is currently enrolled in Cornell University’s prestigious Corporate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion certificate program.
